bands play with fiddles and banjers tuned in the old sawmill key. "T.V. Barnett and His Roan Mountain Moonshiners" are helping to keep alive this music, playing it the way it's been played around here for over 200 years.

Hung out at Club 47 in Cambridge, MA, and Newport Folk Festival, in early 60s and heard rediscovered old timers like Tom Ashley and Dock Boggs, and others like French Carpenter and Jenes Cottrell. Heard and loved albums by Wade Ward, Roscoe Holcomb and the NLCR. Later co-founded the Brandywine Friends of Old Time Music with Carl Goldstein and Mike Hudak. With them, played some with Kilby Snow, and with Charlie Bailey of the Bailey Bros. when he lived in Wilmington. Made memorable trip to Galax in early 70s and stayed at Ted Lundy's mother's home, and visited and jammed with Tommy Jarrell and Kyle Creed. Have freqently attended and benefited from the Wisdoms' Bryn Mawr jam, and more recently, have learned many tunes from, and greatly enjoy playing with, Clare Milliner and Walt Koken, and Richard Bowman. Play banjo in Tater Patch (www.tater-patch.com) with Judy Goldstein, Marge and Tony Sume, and Richard Gordon.

Film:
Hawk can be seen in Musical Holdouts - a film by John Cohen Musical Holdouts This classic, entertaining survey of American traditional music presents varied individuals and groups who have not become part of the "melting pot" of American society. From front porch banjo pickers in Appalachia and the Bluegrass Festival circuit to black children on the Carolina sea islands, cowboys, and Cheyenne and Comanche Indians, they have all retained their cultural identities despite pressures from the mass media and popular culture. "An eloquent testimonial to those enclaves within America where music-making endures as a key to a people's cultural identity." -- Karen Cooper, The Film Forum, New York City

Well i'm actually located in the UK through no fault of my own, and whilst I like it here, the old-timey American music scene is virtually non-existant. For this reason i'm looking at an *extended* holiday to the states at some point in the future, and would love to meet like minded musicians- particularly those with spare rooms :-) My influences are numerous, so to name just a few: Uncle Dave, Fiddlin John Carson, Fiddlin Arthur Smith, Tommy Jarrell, The Stanley Brothers, The Holy Modal Rounders, The incredible string band, Benton Flippen and Joe Thompson. If you're interested in a culteral exchange/flauting of immigration laws, then get in touch! Oh, and you can check out some videos of me on www.youtube.com. Just type 'lostmychops' into the search engine and put yer earplugs in...

Instrumentals: I started out with Round Peak influence from local jams in early '90s. Been playing West Virginia (Hammons, Melvin, Wilson D, De-wight, & farther back) tunes for the last few years. Spent the last year or so working on Kentucky tunes, especially Snake Chapman, Clyde Davenport, and John Salyer. Had the pleasure to study with John Paul Smith (wealth of Snake Chapman tunes).

Early (high-school) vocal influences include Alameda Riddle, Patsy Cline, Doc Watson, and Rosalie Sorrels. Recently (last 20 years), my influences have been strong bluegrass and OT singers, especially my mentor, Ginny Hawker. I always learn something from anyone I sing with, and love doing harmonies.

As a fiddler, my influences include Luther Strong, John Morgan Salyer, Benton Flippen, Tracy Schwarz, Edden Hammons, and Bruce Greene. I love playing for dancers. I play for the The FiddleKicks cloggers as well as the percussive dance ensemble Rhythm in Shoes, based in Dayton, OH.
As a banjo player, my primary influences are Wade Ward and Paul Brown, and I am a proud finger picking banjoist in addition to playing clawhammer. I love playing backup guitar for fiddle tunes as well as some straight ahead lead work for songs. Some of my favorite singers include Tracy Schwarz, Hank Williams, George Jones, Roscoe Holcomb, and Red Allen.

Interested in almost any Southern Appalachian fiddle music. Recently I've been concentrating on Kentucky fiddlers and fiddle tunes (esp. John Salyer). So many tunes so little time!

Particularly enjoy high-energy sessions.

I play lots o' banjo, especially fretless. I have been spending time learning other old time finger picking styles.

Influences are too many to list but here are a few: Fuzzy Mountain, Highwoods, Mike Seeger, Brad Leftwich, Tommy Jarrell, John Salyer, and numerous others.
