Styles/Influences, Other Info: Instrumentals: I started out with Round Peak influence from local jams in early '90s. Been playing West Virginia (Hammons, Melvin, Wilson D, De-wight, & farther back) tunes for the last few years. Spent the last year or so working on Kentucky tunes, especially Snake Chapman, Clyde Davenport, and John Salyer. Had the pleasure to study with John Paul Smith (wealth of Snake Chapman tunes). Early (high-school) vocal influences include Alameda Riddle, Patsy Cline, Doc Watson, and Rosalie Sorrels. Recently (last 20 years), my influences have been strong bluegrass and OT singers, especially my mentor, Ginny Hawker. I always learn something from anyone I sing with, and love doing harmonies.
