Name: Mick Ayres Country: United States State/Province: South Carolina City: Hilton Head Island Interests: Vintage tunes, tall tales and sleight miracles. Instruments: rustic fiddle, open-back banjo, vintage mandolin Email: mick mickayres.com Phone: 843-Mud-Tale |
Styles/Influences, Other Info: I play old-time music full-time for the Walt Disney Company at their vacation resort on Hilton Head Island. Specifically, I enjoy plantation-era, sea-island fiddle tunes from the lowcountry of South Carolina and the coastal empire region along the northeast coast of Georgia. I always perform on weekends...haven't attended a festival in over 17 years (sigh).

Name: James Ruchala Country: United States State/Province: North Carolina City: Pinnacle Interests: jamming, teaching, performing Instruments: banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin Email: jruchala [at] gmail [dot] com Phone: |
Styles/Influences, Other Info: My favorite fiddlers, whose various styles I struggle to keep straight in my mind, include: Ernie Carpenter, Burl Hammons, Tommy Jarrell, Emmett Lundy, and Richard Bowman. On the banjo I don't think anyone can touch Fred Cockerham, but Kyle and Tommy are pretty great, too. Also love Frazier and Patterson, Joe and Odell Thompson, Roane Mountain Hilltoppers, Jim Bowles, Roger Cooper, Buddy Thomas, Henry Reed and most of those Eastern KY lads.
